does not proselytize, we do not use religious worship or instruction. C4 Therapy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of our services or operations. The American Christian faith has harmed many black indigenous people of color with the practices of proselytization and discrimination that promote white supremacy
C4 Therapy was started in 2016 due to the mental health gap for black residents of Charlotte to access counseling services. At that time, many predominantly black areas of Charlotte had a majority of mental health clinicians who lacked the cultural competence to engage the faith of African Americans.
Black people of faith still face limited options as the white evangelical belief system dominates narratives of faith traditions in Charlotte and non-faith mental health clinicians continue to lack the cultural training in providing therapy from a biopsychosocial/spiritual model of care.
C4 Therapy has received training to exist well within the separation between church and state. So to be clear, C4 Therapy organizational virtues are;
C4 Therapy embraces these virtues as our UBUNTU which keeps our staff family grounded!
C4 Therapy altruism elevates service to others above self-interest which means we see people regardless of their inability to pay
C4 Therapy respects the inherent dignity of a person & the right to self-determination (non-discriminatory practice)
C4 Therapy condemns racial injustice as inhumane
C4 Therapy understand that relationships are vehicle for change and that interdependence is necessary so we do not struggle alone
